Kuhio Beach

Freedom Surf Contest is an annual surf contest in Kuhio Beach, Waikiki, held in April. It is a two-day event, promoting “A Drug Free Hawaii”. In having this contest, Surfing The Nations’ goal is to promote surfing as an alternative to drugs. The desire is to promote a positive image of the sport of surfing as a part of a healthy lifestyle and as a means of giving back to society.

An estimated 140,000 people are present during the event over the weekend. During the contest there is live music, speakers, and booths with literature on the repercussion of drug alcohol use.

Surfers come together to promote the sport and push for a drug free Hawai’i by living the motto of ”surfers giving back.”  We hope to see you on the beach for an exciting day of surfing and community in Waikiki.
