Out of Egypt and Into the Promised Land

We are back in Hawaii, but here is an update on our journey through Israel

The Old City

Finally we crossed the border and arrived into Jerusalem, our first stop in Israel. Jerusalem is amazing, I don’t know if I could find other words to explain this city other than AMAZING. Of course there are all the places to visit – the Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Dead Sea, Bethlehem, the Western Wall, but we also spent time with many different churches. All of these churches spend most of their time praying for the peace of Israel. It was great having an opportunity to join in on their prayers.

Surfing The Promised Land

Last stop of the trip was in Tel Aviv. This city is home to a large surf community, estimated at over 10,000 surfers. Imagine that, waves in Israel. The sea was flat when we arrived, but that gave us an opportunity to meet some new friends – Arthur, co-founder of Surfing 4 Peace; Hany, Israeli surfer and surfboard shaper; and Ido, vice-president of International Deaf Surfriders Association and founder of Deaf Surfers Israeli Association. It was such a blessing being able to meet so many prominent individuals within the Israeli surfing scene.

And by the end of our stay in Tel Aviv, we saw some of a swell coming in and spent our last 2 days surfing with our new friends. Life is good and it is a blessing to be a part of surfing in these countries, some places that are not known for their surfing.
