Q. What kind of personal growth can I expect?
As with anything worthwhile, the amount of effort and commitment you show the lessons and experiences offered will directly affect your growing experience! STN offers high school-level biblical character training through teachings as well as hands-on opportunities to serve: these are designed to open your heart and mind to living a servant leadership lifestyle.

Q. What does housing look like?
You will be in community-style rooms (think bunkbeds) with your fellow Summer Challengers (girls with girls and guys with guys). We can’t guarantee that you will be rooming with friends or family if you signed up together.

Q. Do I need to bring/buy my own sufboard?
We have wavestorms available for beginner use for all Summer Challengers. If you are a higher-skilled surfer, we recommend bringing your own surfboard or purchasing one upon arrival.

Q. Is food included in the cost?
Food is not included! Summer Challenge will share many team meals (which are included in the cost), but day-to-day meals need to be prepared by yourself in your room's kitchen. You have a full kitchen available, as well as many grocery stores within walking distance.

Q. How does the program blend adventure and service?
This is a high-intensity program with adventure activities scheduled on most days: think hiking, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, etc. You'll also be part of serving the local community by joining our Youth Outreach and Feeding The Hungry programs (see the main menu for more info). Property work at the STN base will also be part of the service component. The "challenge" part of the program is keeping up with the fun!

Q. How do I get to the island/base?
You will fly in and out of Daniel K Inouye International Airport (Honolulu HNL), and our staff will be there to pick you up and take you to our base! You will be taken back to the airport a few hours before your departure flight is scheduled to leave!
